As soon as you start reading Grishams latest contribution, you develop a warmth for the main character, Ray Atleee. His lifestyle, occupation, apathy towards finding a long term relationship, even the car he drives and the plane he flies are all sibliminal factors which make you admire the man. The guy has integrity despite his poor up- bringing and as the story unfolds one can't help but consider what they would do if they were in his position. Torn between a rock and a hard plate, Ray Atlee starts to becomes more dependent on his recent windfall, one can feel the greed begining to set in and what was once a contented normal lifestyle is now being questioned. The Big Mango by Jake Needham

Jake Needham has a wonderful way with words and a meta understanding of Bangkok ways and its culture. The Big Mango has a terrific storyline and likeable characters that you can relate with from the start. Probably more of a mans book, the hero, Eddie Dare is at the crossroads of his life when he receives a note that could change his life! I guess most 40 year olds will empathise with this senario. If you have spent time in Thailand you will appreciate Needhams attention to detail, if you havent travelled to the far east, don't worry, this book will take you there and back.

I bought this on the back of all other John Grisham novels, however, I have noticed that his plots are becomming a little tired!. This was one my holiday reading material over christmas and quite frankly I could not believe it was written by the same man who bought us The partner, A time to kill and The Firm. Its a daft story and an even dafter ending. I will wait for reviews on his new book before I buy any more of his novels, because his last three books leave alot to be desired. I think this guy has lost the plot!
