Gina Fords methods are very controversial, and in my opinion very old-fashioned. Beware of this book if you look for a baby-centred approach, as advice to "let the baby cry it out" will split the readership and break mothers' hearts. Her daily routine schedules are almost impossible to follow. If you look for more baby-led methods try the Attachment Parenting Book or for problems with Crying the Sheila Kitzinger one.

I got this book out of the library and am now a total Sheila Kitzinger fan. The book is based on research carried out by the author via questionnaires in a British and an Australian parenting magazine. She found out that the babies who cry most, like more than 6 hours a day, also experienced a very stressful pregnancy,a traumatic birth with lots of interventions and drugs and a patronising , autocratic hospital environment. Also interesting the fact that babies cry most at the 3rd week and in the 3rd month after birth and that some drugs take about a month to clear out of the babies system which leads to some babies changing behaviour dramatically afterwards.
