Gravity [Blu-ray] [2013] [Region Free] Blu-ray ~ George Clooney
Gravity [Blu-ray] [2013] [Region Free] Blu-ray ~ George Clooney

Gravity, for those who managed to avoid it, isn't actually a space film. It's not even a film that particularly needs Sandra Bullock or George Clooney. In fact, much like writer/director Alfonso Cuarón's Children of Men, it seems more about absence and a lack of a clearly definable future: it poses the same question of "What now?". Visually, it owes much to Douglas Trumbull's spectacular work with 2001: A Space Odyssey. Here is a film that spends much of its 91 minutes floating and bouncing the poor viewer miles above the Earth and yet it manages to avoid being a lazy retread of similar films like Apollo 13 or, even worse, Armageddon by managing to set the Earth itself as a thing of… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Everybody Dies, 14 Mar 2014
When people die, words have a tendency to sound hollow or glib. Whether they were good people or not or whether they touched your life in a major way or just passed through it, the words that follow can often seem simultaneously like too much is being said and then that there’s not enough can actually be said. Despite being a subject that, by its innately bleak nature, we all have to face throughout our lives (not including the panic-attack inducing prospect of our own death), words rarely capture the feelings that follow a death. I think R.E.M. made a worthy stab with Sweetness Follows (but that was later ruined by its inclusion in Vanilla Sky).

Marvel Select Ultimate Hulk Action Figure by MARVEL
I've found myself collecting these chaps over the last few years. I already have the Abomination, the Juggernaut, the Thing and the Unleashed Hulk (this guy was a Disneyland Florida exclusive so I had to get him shipped in). Ultimate Hulk has been available for import too for a while but going for anything upwards of £50 or more so I'd pretty much given up on getting him.

Anyway, onto the title of my review. This particular figure from the Marvel Select range feels uncharacteristically cheap and flimsy. He has the great sculpt, the detail, generous articulation (better than previous Select figures too) but he's so light. He lacks the heft of the other figures and feels he might… Read more
