Family man, with 2 kids. Work in the IT industry. Been a customer of Amazon for many, many years. I am a cautious buyer. I generally research products carefully before I buy. For me, price is important, but quality is more so.

The Forever Girl: A Novel by Alexander McCall Smith
The Forever Girl: A Novel by Alexander McCall Smith
3.0 out of 5 stars Middling, 16 July 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Whilst I applaud Alexander McCall Smith for striking out, rather than churning out yet another Ladies Detective Agency book, I found the characters in this book less convincing and less vividly drawn than his classic series. I wanted to like it, and to be fair I found the story pleasantly enjoyable, but in the end I would have to rate it as only middling in the author's canon.

Perfect as a gentle holiday read, and if you know his other books, it will feel familiar as a pair of slippers. But nothing ground-breaking here.
Rapesco Supaclip 60 Dispenser with 8 Clips by Rapesco
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This product provides a compromise between a stapler and a paper clip: it is less permanent than the former, but more secure than the latter.

Advantages:
- It is particularly good for a thicker stack of paper, where paper clips tend to get twisted out of shape and fall off, and where you need a heavy duty stapler to get through all those sheets.
- I find this very useful for attaching together a small set of papers, for example, a set of briefing documents for a meeting.
- Unlike a staple, you can remove the clip, e.g., if you want to be able to spread out the papers
- You can use 2 or 3 along the edge of a wad of papers, to turn it into a "booklet"… Read more
AmazonBasics Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Black by AmazonBasics

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than basic, 26 Jun 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I have liked many products from the AmazonBasics range, and this is another good one.

As usual, the packaging is minimal - the speaker comes in a brown cardboard box, wrapped in a simple plastic bag to keep the dirt off. Only the bag to be binned, the rest recyclable. Also in the pack is a charging cable and small instruction booklet, that's it.

Initial impressions are good. It is small but feels sold and well built. There are speaker grilles on both sides, and (peering through) it appears there are 2 tweeters on one side and a single bass output on the other. On one side is a small microphone, which comes into play if you use it as a speakerphone… Read more
