Past; Tense by Joe Harding
Past; Tense by Joe Harding
Joe Harding writes a great short story, classic twists or building crescendos of emotion, it's all here, involving you, as he rightly states on his back cover. There is a good mix of amusingly dark tales and poignant endgames to lives; his writing is descriptive but never heavy and he displays the hand of an author who deserves mainstream publishing. Buy this book for yourself, then buy it as a present because you won't want to give your first copy away and you can be in at the start of his career!

River of Dreams by Vanessa Harvey

Dix Mardun has spent his life trying to be a loner, yet responsibility has always found him. Now, he's determined he wants the quiet life, but when he transmits an image of contraband from his ship, he finds himself again, questioning that desire. The answer doesn't come cheap; his girlfriend's life, his faith in the scientific method, his own sanity. Could he lose them all?
This is a story set in the middle of the twenty first century when the world has changed but the important things haven't: your ship, your lover, your friends and your species.
