Dear me. This is absolute tosh set in the highly glamarous setting of an Irish town in umm, Ireland. The characters are grumpy old farts and I had to be actually told what parts were supposed to be funny. If you like your irony but you're really thick and have failed to find a book which basically has irony on every bloody page highlighted in big letters which is lit at night then look no further. Example, (note this book is set a year before the potato famine) "Oh at least we've got the potatoes", "We'll have the potatoes for a while yet" X100. Its rubbish.
