Sleep: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Intro&hellip by Steven W. Lockley
I have read several of the books in this series, and the later titles have really got into their stride. The two authors true experts in the field, and have managed to pack a lot of at times dense information into the book. The highly technical sections are kept brief for those readers who lack a background in, for example neuroscience, and there is clear guidance for those seeking a strong evidence base for approaches that can help ameliorate various sleep disorders. The book is well-laid out, and manages to strike a good balance between the risk of over-condensation versus simplistic brevity.

I bought Go Faster Food as I and my family are keen mountain bikers, and have been looking at entering endurance events where nutrition is particularly important. I am also a keen cook, and couldn`t resist adding another, albeit seemingly specialised book to the collection. Having now worked through most of the recipes, this book has become a firm favourite, regardless of the fitness/health angle, and the hit-rate of great recipes, including starters and puddings, is the highest of any recipe book I own. Having recently read the stunning debut novel Daemon by IT expert Daniel Suarez,Daemon along with his equally fine follow-up FreedomFreedom TM, I looked forward to reading a debut novel from another IT expert, this one endorsed by none other than Bill Gates. Unfortunately Zero Day turned out to be one of the worst novels I have ever read from any genre. The characters are relentlessly two-dimensional, the plot is trite, dialogue risible and in general the whole sorry mess is close to unreadable.
