Vertigo by Winfried Georg Sebald

Sebald is an amazing writer whose work is best tasted in "The Rings of Saturn" (NOT science fiction) and "The Emigrants". "Vertigo" actually preceded those two, though it was translated into English later. Not quite fiction, not quite non-fiction or essay--but something uniquely Sebaldian.
The Best Of T.Rex ~ Marc Bolan & T Rex
The Best Of T.Rex ~ Marc Bolan & T Rex
4.0 out of 5 stars Great music, 17 Dec 2012
Before T.Rex was Tyrannosaurus Rex, from whose work this LP is drawn: strange folky music with lyrics as whimsical and pre-Raphaelite as you are likely to find set to such lovely tunes. "Debora", "Find a Little Wood," "Blessed Wild Apple Girl"--this is a fine assortment of Marc Bolan's music in the few years just before the release of "Ride a White Swan" and the advent of TRextacy.
Strandloper (Harvill Panther) by Alan Garner
5.0 out of 5 stars 20th century classic, 17 Dec 2012
Alan Garner is one of the greatest English language writers of the 20th century--a latter-day "Modernist" (though he would probably reject the label)--who is much too little regarded. Strandloper is a marvel of lean language, where every word matters, a remarkable narrative based in fact but moving like a timeless mythological tale.
