Philip Marlowe, Private Eye (Season 1) - 2-DVD Set&hellip DVD ~ Powers Boothe
I used to quite enjoy Powers Boothe's attempts to recreate Marlowe for the T.V. Unfortunately, having re-watched these short stories, I must go back to my original conclusion that no one, not even Humphrey Bogart ever got Marlowe right!
Playback by Raymond Chandler
Playback by Raymond Chandler
Playback is the last completed Philip Marlowe novel, and somehow it feels that way. It lacks the intensity (and brilliance) of the earlier stories. Compared to such masterpieces as The Big Sleep and The Long Goodbye this seems a rather shallow affair. However, if you like Chandler this is still very readable.
Modern Family - Season 3 [DVD] DVD ~ Ed O'Neill
It is sometimes difficult to decide why we enjoy something so much. Good comedy has a lot to do with interesting and likeable characters, characters that have some of our own traits and quirks. Modern Family is full of such characters, there is not one of the main cast that is not vulnerable to the challenges that life throws at us. The way that they deal with those challenges, not always successfully, provides the fascination in this series. A very likeable, enjoyable and funny series. Great fun!
