Original Album Series [5 Pack] ~ The Cars

5.0 out of 5 stars First 5 Cars albums, 14 Jan 2014
This contains the first 5 Cars albums only missing out Door To Door (weaker than all of these) and the recent 2011 comeback album Move Like This (as good as it could be considering the loss of Benjamin Orr). Most songs are sung by Ric Ocasek but some have Benjamin Orr on vocals eg. Drive.

The Cars - The classic first album produced by Roy Thomas Baker (produced the first 4 albums and also produced 70s Queen albums from Queen II to A Night At The Opera). Not a duff track and still sounds great. If you like My Best Friends Girl and Just What I Needed you should like the rest. Some tracks like I'm In Touch With Your World may sound a bit quirky on first listen but break it up nicely… Read more
Original Album Classics ~ Heart

This includes 4 out of six of their earlier albums before their mid-eighties hits on and after their seventh album 'Heart'. The first 3 albums in this set are in the same vein as the two missing albums Dreamboat Annie and Magazine: sort of Led Zep light with ballsy female vocals. Dreamboat Annie is probably the most well known of their earlier albums (their first) which is probably why it's not included. If you like that album you'll like these 3 and would also like Magazine (uneven but has some top tracks). Little Queen is also patchy but has Barracuda, Love Alive and Treat Me Well. Apart from a couple of tracks Dog and Butterfly is pretty solid as is Bebe Le Strange. These two albums… Read more
Marathon: 30th Anniversary Edition ~ Santana

3.0 out of 5 stars AOR Santana style, 20 Nov 2012
This continues in the same vein as Inner Secrets but leans more towards the 80s (released in '79). Santana maybe heard other groups AOR rock efforts and thought "I can do better than that". He may have been influenced by Journey, a sort of offshoot of Santana. For me it's not as enjoyable as Inner Secrets but the band are very tight. The lyrics are cliched so it's best not to study them too much! The album's high point is Aqua Marine, a lovely instrumental with some great bass guitar also, I never get tired of this track. I think it's available on compilations.
