Stepfather 3 - Father's Day (uncut)
This is the rather hard to find third part of the Stepfather trilogy and although Terry O'Quinn obviously wasn't available to reprise the role, his replacement does an excellent job of covering most of the bases. Plastic surgery is the plot device used to cover the change of appearance, but after that, it's the same basic plot of a guy looking for the perfect family, thinks he's found one, gets married, didn't quite work out, time to consider new options. Though the story sounds familiar, it's done in such an entertaining way that we're never bored and still left constantly wondering what's going to happen next. Weissmuller's achievements far exceed those of other luminaries of his generation, but his Hollywood story must have been very frustrating for him. His Tarzan years must have brought an early glory to his existence but the gradual wind down with it diminution of fame from iconic Hollywood star to lacklustre TV star with no further prospects would have contributed to anyone's encounters with alcohol. His numerous marriages presumably resulted from his gradually declining fortunes. Wow! This book is BIG AND HEAVY! In fact, it's so heavy it busted loose from Amazon's flimsy packaging, got slightly damaged and had to be repackaged by Australia Post before it could be delivered to me. Instead of being upset, I still say bravo to Amazon for what they charged for price and postage! Both were very reasonable and allow me to be still very happy with my purchase. As for the book itself, the photos are numerous and very clear. There's comparatively very little text but one could spend hours just looking through the photos and reminiscing over the good times had while watching the films over the years.
