Peter Pan (Penguin Popular Classics) by J. M. Barrie

The story of Peter Pan, the boy who would not grow up, has been vivid in people's minds for many years. In fact, when JM Barrie wrote the story as a stageplay in 1904, I doubt he could have known or even dreamed of the success his character would eventually achieve.
Musicals, musicals, dramatisations (animated as well as real ones) have been made but still the world can't get enough of Peter Pan. Is it because he can fly? Because he stays a little boy forever? It's a tempting thought, yes, but this book shows very well the good as well as the bad sides of eternal youth.
It's true that this is no happy, merry little fairy tale. Of course, bad things happen and villains do have to… Read more
Lirael by Garth Nix

After having read SABRIEL and loving it, I was quite unsure about LIRAEL - I thought it just couldn't be as good as SABRIEL. But I was wrong. Garth Nix surprised me very much with the strong character of Lirael who is so very different from Sabriel and especially her adventures in the Clayr's Glacier found my liking.
I also liked that there were several plot lines to follow so you never get bored. I am so looking forward to reading ABHORSEN because this book rather ended with a cliffhanger - so for everyone buying LIRAL: put ABHORSEN in your shopping cart as well... I'm sure it's worth it!!!
The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

... for this is an extremely funny book that you won't be able to put down, once started. Not only is Douglas Adams making fun of everything you can imagine (starting at society, English poets, music, prejudices, basically everything!) but he is also showing us our universe in a totally crazy way with characters both lovable and nuts.
A little advice for those of you who plan to purchase this book now (which is good!!!) - go ahead and buy the second and third part as well, so you won't have to wait for them after you finished this one. And while you're reading part two... just buy number four and five.
Alright. Now have fun reading this and never forget your towel.
