4.0 out of 5 stars Foot tapping, 9 Sep 2013
I bought this for a family party with a varied age range and as an alternative to the usual pop music. It was welcomed by all, those who remember black and white tv and New Year's Eve on BBC; the children who were introduced to it and loved it and it even got the grumpy teenagers tapping their feet. If you are feeling glum, listen to Jimmy. It is timeless.

4.0 out of 5 stars A worthy purchase, 9 Sep 2013
This is a beautifully presented book and excellent value. A small, neat volume which is a pleasure to dip into. It is a splendid record of some of London's special buildings. It encourages the visitor to London, or resident to seek out even more examples of the period.
Colour: Travels Through the Paintbox by Victoria Finlay
The book seems to be produced on substandard paper and bearing in mind, the subject is colour it has a curious absence of colour illustrations. Economy? The writing is certainly superior though and holds the reader's attention throughout. The book is crammed with fact and reference material without being weighed down by being too academic in its presentation, indeed it flows with the precision of a well researched novel. I rarely read novels but based on this book, if I saw one written by Miss Finlay, I would certainly buy it. This book is recommended reading. More illustrations would have given it 5 stars.
