The Early Years: 1959-1966 ~ Shadows
I had the 20 Golden Greats album for many years. With this collection I now realise what a music genius Hank Marvin was/is. The band The Shadows were an extraordinary group of musicians. Although the music sounds simple, try to play any of these songs with the same passion and skill, I bet you can't.
The incredible musicianship and timing these guys had was impeccable. The song The Savage is a good example of timing, skill and an incredible song. I never get sick of Hanks great tone and melody.
The kids of today would look at the cover of this box set and say geeks etc, but these guys really started what we all love today and i am very glad i have this collection to educate my… Read more
Mr Mojo Risin' - The Story Of L.A. Woman [Blu-ray]&hellip Blu-ray ~ The Doors
This is an enjoyable BluRay of how LA Woman was created and does have some good interviews with the surviving band members. The sound is stunning as is the picture, however I found as a video it did plod on a bit and is nit something I would watch very often. Perhaps I should have just got the DVD of this one. There are a few interesting bonus clips that are now also shown on other Doors BluRays such as the recent R-Evolution and the Doors story movie.
I think after buying all these Doors films over the past few years this will be it unless they put out a complete Isle Of Wight from 1970, you never know.

I brought this box set back in 1991. It's still one of my favourite box sets out of the 100s I own.
The first CD contains some magnificent songs from their early days. Junkie (with a great wah wah pedal solo) and He's Alive, another fantastic song that should have been issued earlier. Free Bird is a classic but there are many more great songs here. Listening to this on headphones is the way to go, the mixing of all the guitars by Al Kooper was brilliantly done, they really blend well and sound great. Each CD does show a progression up until the final sessions with Steve Gaines who sadly died as did the lead singer Ronnie. This is a great kick ass rock collection of great songs. The… Read more
