A very well illustrated book and excellent text adjacent to each painting. As in the lecture the designation of Southwark Cathedral is incorrect at the time of the painting. When the picture was painted the church was known as St Mary Overy, also known as St Saviours after the dissolution. It did not become Southwark Cathedral until 1905. It is also omitted to point out that besides the many arches of Old London Bridge the flow of the river was slow because it was very much wider as it was before the Embankment has built. This made the likelihood of freezing much more understandable. In spite of these very minor mistakes it is a delightful book and well worth having.
