I bought this DVD on the recommendation of a friend (English no less) who thinks it's very funny. I'm sorry, but I don't find anything funny in watching people being disintegrated. The only thing I found moderately amusing was Rod Steiger's General who constantly pronounced "nuclear" as "nuke-ular", I presume as some sort of homage to the dear former President of the USA. Yes, I do understand that it's a spoof on the American genre of sci-fi films, but I think the whole thing could have been much wittier than it was.

Being of the rare variety of movie watcher who dislikes stories that contain bucket loads of gutter language, flimsy stories, endless computer generated explosions and American style car chases and violence, then this film is just up my alley. If, however, you enjoy all of the above, then you will not like this movie at all. I would suggest that you do a tiny bit of reading up on Sir Thomas Beecham before you see the film, as there are some lovely little references to him, including his infamous remark about lady Cello players.
