What a fabulous little book. Full of great anecdotal inspiration, humour and insight.

Unexpectedly, possibly one of the best business management books - ever!
Pike To Durham: An American Farmer's Journal by Betsy B. Kitch
Fascinating diary. A a Durham (UK) man and siblings emigrate to Illinois (USA) in the mid-19th century. The diary is of a trip made back to Durham (UK) and parts of Europe.

Even more fascinating as his family names ANDERSON and MEGGESON are important names in my family tree from the mid-19th centry Durham!!

2.0 out of 5 stars One dimensional, 21 Oct 2010
I was looking forward to reading David Leavitt's short stories having been a fan of a number of his novels. Sadly, I found the stories very one dimensional and quite flat - stories read as if they were meant to be longer pieces (almost like narrative extracts from novels). Not long ago, I read Patrick Gale's "Gentleman's Relish" a collection of short stories which had real verve, excitement and interesting twists. Perhaps it's wrong to compare the two "genres"
