For a directorial debut, this is a staggering achievement. Sam Rockwell is just amazing. Don't expect an Aliens, or Star Wars.

But do just watch it.

The movie starts off well meaning, giving a "informative" bitesize history of Saudi Arabia for those people who do all their learning in front of the tv, and then setting the stall for the movie with a terrorist attack on a Western compound. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Rob&hellip DVD ~ Brad Pitt

5.0 out of 5 stars A gem, 1 May 2008
I honestly approached this film with high expectations, and by the end of it, I was left utterly speechless.

Casey Affleck and Brad Pitt turn in masterclasses in a movie that explores a wide gamut of emotions between two characters. Brad Pitt plays the notorious Jesse James, a man that few understand, yet idolised by a young Robert Ford, so eager to follow in his hero's footsteps. The play between the two is always fascinating; the photography and music are spellbinding, and their ultimate fates are heartbreaking.

This film is to be savoured; a genuine modern classic.
