This is an excellent companion to the Polygram issued "Retrospective" parts 1 + 2. It`s taken a while for Atlantic records to get their finger out and release a compilation given that Rush have been on their roster for TWENTY years. It`s good that they`ve tied it in with the previous ones, making a nice little set. There are no real "hits" here, simply because Rush don`t do hits. What you do get is the best of their Atlantic era albums. We could argue all day about what should be on there, I would have preferred they had swapped the track "Roll the bones" for "Between sun and moon" and "Leave that thing alone" for "Where`s my thing?", but everyone has their own favourites. This is a great album. Following on from the self financed "White album", this was Diamond Head`s major label debut. Seven killer songs with no filler. The only thing that lets it down is the dated production. The drums are weak and it could do with a bit more bass. Two of the songs are (inferior) rerecordings of "Lightning to the nations" and "Am I evil?". The rest were then new songs. Pick of the bunch are the pop/rock brilliance of "Call me" and the pair of Zeppelin influenced numbers "Borrowed time" and "Don`t you ever leave me". Also the unforgettable "In the heat of the night". Rounding it out are various bonus cuts and an interview. This CD has been out of print for many… Read more
