Aico EI100TYC Ionisation Smoke Alarm With 9V Lithi&hellip by Aico
I bought this alarm some years ago, and it has been performing perfectly since. Unlike several rival brands I can think of, Aico's boast of a 10 year life looks like a claim they will deliver on.

We bought one of these that was dated July 2010, and we installed it within three months of then. However, this week it started chirping the low battery signal. Its life has therefore only been slightly over three years, when the manufacturer claims 10 years! Its warranty is worthless, as Kidde demand that the customer pays postage both ways, so it is not worthwhile. I will replace it with something by another manufacturer, and never buy another Kidde product.
Casio WV-58DU-1AVES Mens Wave Ceptor Bracelet Digi&hellip Casio

This watch worked perfectly for about six months, but then started requiring frequent battery changes to keep working properly. It seems the radio control function will only work if the battery is in tiptop condition. This then created a problem, as every time you change a watch battery you loosen the connections a little, and after a few such changes the watch starts to crash and reset. This started happening after 18 months of use, and eventually became such a problem I threw the watch away. By contrast, the non-radio controlled Casio I had before lasted over 20 years with just one battery change! The lesson is by all means buy a Casio, but avoid the Waveceptor range.
