Last Of The Cowboy Vampires ~ Lance Keltner
Last Of The Cowboy Vampires ~ Lance Keltner
5.0 out of 5 stars Good Rock & Blues, 24 Jan 2011
I first heard this album not long after it was first released. I reviewed it for the Blues Matters magazine. It it good rock texas blues in the traditional mode. Lance comes from a musical family... his dad is the drummer Jim Keltner. Lance is certainly worth a listen. If you like Steve Miller, ZZ top, Skynyrd...etc. then this will also ring your bell. One of my favourite tracks on the cd is Bye bye Donkey, a hedonistic song with fantastic rock slide on it. Some friends are in a rock blues band and have done a cover version of this song for a couple of years now.... and it always received well. Chain gang is a lovely ballad that see's Lance dueting with a top femail vocalist. I highly… Read more
Hit the High Hard One ~ Popa Chubby
Hit the High Hard One ~ Popa Chubby
This was the first Popa Chubby album I heard and I have been hooked ever since. Popa delivers strat guitar driven raw blues with hints of jaz on the perifery for some numbers. This live album captures the atmosphere of the live gig with the audience being an integral component. The song selection ranges from slow blues through to full blown in your face rock blues. I have followed and played the blues for over forty years and this is up there for me with all the great blues guys. This will not disappoint you and comes highly recommended by a former artist reviewer for an established blues magazine.
Fleetwood Mac - The Early Years [DVD] DVD ~ Fleetwood Mac

I would have rated this 5 stars but deducted 1 star for the crass commentry over the opening of some of the tracks. Giving meaningless jibberish that detracts and spoils the essence of what a Fleetwood Mac fan has bought the DVD for. None the less I would recommend this disc to anyone who likes the original line up of the band. Peter Green's live rendition of "World turning" is worth the price of the disc alone. The whole DVD is a mixture of promo video presentations and live numbers. Well worth it. Man they were good!!!!
