Having heard both sets of the 1961 British Hit Parade, it is clear to be the Fantastic Voyage sets offer the best value.

The sound quality is vastly superior, ok there is the odd blemish (some tracks are mastered from 50 year old vinyl after all), but nothing major. The Acrobat CDs suffer from distortion, pops and clicks and excessive sibilance on far more tracks.

Having heard both sets of the 1961 British Hit Parade, I have to say the Fantastic Voyage boxes offer the best value. Despite the occasional blemish (some tracks are after all mastered from 50 year old vinyl) the sound quality is vastly superior to the rival Acrobat series on this occasion.

Unlike the Acrobat CDs, these are genuine factory produced silver discs, the Acrobat discs appear to be CDRs.

1.0 out of 5 stars poor quality, 13 Jan 2012
Disappointed with the Acrobat series this year. The discs are not silver factory pressed discs, but CDRs, and the CD I played (from Vol 2) was poor in terms of sound quality, with distortion, random pops and clicks and excessive sibilance among the issues.

I would recommend the rival Fantastic Voyage sets as they are much better for sound quality.
