Despite being 30 years old, this is as relevant to today's world as the Tao Te Ching has always been, with a refreshingly honest appraisal of western attitudes to life. The comparisons with some Judaeo-Christian thoughts are helpful and informative without being dry or preaching, and the translation of the Chinese text itself is possibly as terse and unsaddled with skewed interpretations as you'll ever find (unlike some recent New Agey "translations" of it which really do take some awful liberties).
