My Vue: Modern French Cookery by Shannon Bennett
My Vue: Modern French Cookery by Shannon Bennett
i bought this book after looking at the restaurants website in admiration and i'm very pleased with it. the first part is his life story followed by recipes and his opinions on each chapters subject. it's a great book for basics such as bread, potato dishes, sauce making and pastry but on top of that it has some really interesting ideas on dishes too. it's not a food porn book at all so theres not many pictures but for all you "readers" out there who dont just look at pretty cookbooks and actually want to learn from them it's a bargain!

i first saw this book about a year ago. the chef at the restaurant i work at has a copy and after allmost an hour of looking at it decided i needed it, only problem was the price tag which was 160. when i saw this book in a revised edition for only 40 i didnt know quite what to think. at first i thought it must be paperback but then found out it was hardcover. well....it came today and i can tell you the only difference is the page size. no, i'm not talking about the ammount of pages but only the actual size of the page. its about the size of A4 paper, but i see that as a plus not a minus!
the book is layed out alphabetically and goes by ingredient. its ONLY recipes though. nothing… Read more

everyones allways known that ramsays a good chef but never been shown what his food is really like until now! the front half is basically kitchen pictures and philosophies as well as all the glassy pictures of the dishes with his inspiration written beside them, the second half is those same dishes but with the full recipes. it's not your average home cook stuff and i really wouldnt expect anyone other than a professional cook to do any of them but for people in the trade that have been waiting for ramsay to put out a real "restauranty" cookbook then it's the one to get. i'd put it on par with the french laundry for story telling and inspiration.
