5.0 out of 5 stars Mustn't Grumble!, 30 Nov 2008
Having just received this book I am happy to report it to be a weighty and impressive tome. No I have not yet had time to read all of its 400 pages! However, like all those who buy books on subjects of which they have 'inside' knowledge, I was delighted to find that the bits I know about were accurately chronicled. A massive ammount of research must have gone into the writing of this book. What is very interesting is that Barfe's interviews were not only with the 'stars'. There are many quotes from the lower orders such as technicians, musicians and even drummers! They provide an interesting and non glamorous counterpoint. This is a great product and I bought it from here which means it was supplied by Photo Land.
The item arrived with the mains adaptor and the memory card missing. Photoland say they are unable to check items before posting and are unable to supply missing accessories!!!!! What ever happened to customer service?
I compromised and agreed that if they sent me a 2GB memory card by 1st Class post and posted it the next day I would consider the matter closed. They did not. I notice on the Photoland site that they only have 95% positive feedback. Hmmmmmmmmm!
Draw your own conclusions - I will not buy any further electronics from Amazon.

And now - April 2008 Photoland keep… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A little Gem!!!, 14 Dec 2005
I have just been lucky enough to read an advance copy of this book! I am not in the book trade!
This book is an absolute gem and, as a father of four young children, I recommend this book to parents everywhere.
The stories are charming and some of them contain simple recepies - including one for sandwiches! What a brilliant idea.
The last story in this book deals sensitively and imaginatively with the death of a Grandparent and could be very useful to parents of small children who are facing this situation.
An excellent book full of good 'old fashioned' ideas and values.
