Do not be put off by this brick of a book. In fact it should be a plus point for when you finally draw to the end of this one thousand-page fantasy epic you will be left awestruck, gob smacked and begging for more. It is difficult to describe the sheer magnitude of this book, which tells how Frodo Baggins (a hobbit of The Shire) is entrusted with the one ring, a device of unparalleled evil which can ensnare all creatures, even those with the holiest of intentions and bends them to its own black-hearted will. The ring was created by the Dark Lord, Sauron and it answers to him alone. It was taken from him and as he awakens he learns that a hobbit has it and sends out all his forces to recover… Read more
