JUNIOR MINIATURE DIATONIC MELODEON KIDS BEGINNERS &hellip by ACCORDION

I'd never even picked up a Melodeon before, and bought one of these on a whim. I can say I have not regtretted the very modest outlay. Even my wife says it has been hours of entertainment! Its easy to play for everyone from a 5yr old to adults, and its stands up to travel.

Chinese made, with hilariously translated instructions, it comes in a cardboard box which soon disintegrated. The buttons are sized for children's hands, but are not too small for a medium sized adult. The top key sticks on mine, and though I've tried greasing it with butter, it still sticks which adds an extra complication. It doesn't cost much, so don't expect precision measurement or craftmanship! The bulb protector is stapled into the wood, and mine was off centre, meaning the bulb contacted the metal protector. Unlikely to affect the reading, but shows sloppy manufacturing. It has a small washer which pivots out of the top, on which you can hang the thermometer. Unfortunately there is nothing to allow fixing on the bottom, and a… Read more
Hexbug Hexbug Crab Electronic Toys by Hexbug

I bought this for my six year old, who wanted a black one specifically. Who knows why?
The Crab looks good, but makes quite a bit of mechanical noise, as if clockwork. It makes its way slowly across the floor, sometimes randomly changing directions. It does change direction on a hand-clap, about 50% of the time. When it gets to a relatively dark place, it stops moving. It seeks inactivity. My son played with it for 10 minutes and then found something more interesting, and I couldn't really blame him.
I happened to buy a proper mechanical wind-up crab for our other son, and we had just as much fun, but wih it costing 1.50. Hexcrab is great if you are interested in expensive toys -… Read more
