Jamaica Inn (VMC Book 224) by Daphne du Maurier
Jamaica Inn (VMC Book 224) by Daphne du Maurier
5.0 out of 5 stars Jamaica Inn, 17 May 2014
I have read the book several times and it never fails to excite me. The characters are so well developed and three dimensional the reader is compelled to associate and love/hate them equally. cu Maurier is a master story teller and her graphic descriptions of the wild inhospitable moors are truly wonderful. I am going to read other books now! Read this one you will not be disappointed.
The Fall of Anne Boleyn: A Countdown by Claire Ridgway
5.0 out of 5 stars Anne Boleyn, 17 April 2014
This is a fantastic book! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I could not put it down as I wanted to learn more and more of Queen Anne.
The book is written like a story, and what a story except of course it is true. It was very useful and fascinating to learn about the other "players" and what became of them at the end of the book. A wonderful account with the author giving her own views and opinions on the gruesome events leading up to the execution of Queen Anne. Wonderful. If there are any more books by Claire Ridgway I want to read them!
Anne Boleyn - A Short Biography with Illustrations by James Gairdner
This short biography was indeed just that. Actually it did not really tell us much about Boleyn that perhaps we did not already know. The people hated her. She used her beauty and personality to win favours from others within the Court and she appears to have achieved her ambition, namely to become queen. Gairdner does not tell us any more. Disappointing.
