This tries to be an interesting concept, but ended up being an extended version of an episode of "The outer Limits". The bad language didn't help, and as someone with difficulty hearing, the absence of subtitles was a major drawback. I felt the acting of the main protagonist was a bit wooden, the story had not much to say on a well explored subject. O.K. for a night in, but nothing memorable sets it above the norm.

I really enjoyed this book. It has some interesting concepts and twists and turns that you don't see coming. Not heard of the author before and I took a chance based on the Amazon recommendation. I'm pleased that I did, for this book is quite original in its setting, although the storyline follows a familiar theme. This book is not leaving my collection and I eagerly await a sequel.

The story is O.K. but I have read similar (and better) elsewhere. There doesn't seem to be any resolution to this book. The setting didn't seem to have any bearing on the protagonist, in fact it seemed that her life was initially enhanced by the oncoming war and only one or two areas where the invading army directly affected her.
So, as I said at the beginning, not a book for me, but then this is just my… Read more
