5.0 out of 5 stars EVERYTHING AND MORE, 6 April 2004
KRISTIN HERSH IS AMAZING. WITH EACH NEW PROJECT SHE STILL MANAGES TO SOUND FRESH AND ELECTRIFYING.THIS FIRST RELEASE FROM FIFTY FOOT WAVE IS EVERYTHING INTELLIGENT MUSIC FANS COULD WANT AND MORE. INVENTIVE GUITAR WORK, AMAZING LYRICS WITH SOME FANTASTIC HOOK LINES [ HELL'S BELLS I WOULDN'T LEAVE YOU..], UNPREDICTABLE TEMPO CHANGES, AND THAT VOICE. NO ONE SINGS LIKE KRISTIN - HARSH, SWEET, HUMEROUS AND INTENSE. BRILLIANT! THIS MUSIC SPEAKS MY LANGUAGE AND I'M ALREADY IMPATIENT FOR THE NEXT RELEASE AND A CHANCE TO SEE THESE GEMS PERFORMED LIVE IN THE UK.

Throwing Muses ~ Throwing Muses
Throwing Muses have never been an easy ride. When I first heard them back in the late 80's I would never have believed they would come to be so important in my life - but they have. Rarely does a band trigger so many emotions in me - love, fear, excitment, reverence - but this one does. This cd is superb - raw, rocking and emtionally charged. Kristins voice and guitar is as unique as ever, Bernard's bass is heavy , and David's drumming is what it aleays is; a powerhouse. Tanya Donelly adds some… Read more

Forget all those useless tags [punk, goth, etc] that people always use when trying to pigeon-hole this band. The beauty of the group is that they constantly reinvented themselves musically and image wise without ever losing their unique spirit and essence. Juju is a near perfect offering and ranks alonside Kaleidoscope and Peepshow as ,in my opinion, one of their best incarnations. Here you have exquisite guitars, thumping drums, moody atmospherics and playfully dark lyrics. Add to this Siouxsie's key defying, commanding voice [crooning, howling, whispering] and you've got the stuff of [bad] dreams. Each track is a gem in its own right, and put together make a very satisfying whole… Read more
