Home Grown (Terror Strikes From Within) by Rob Turney
What a find - bought when it was free and would now have paid for it. It's a long book and took ages to read but I kept going back to it. It has several strands that all come together. It's completely believable and seeing most of the book from Taz's point of view is really different as you can see how some Muslims can become radicalised. There's a good twist towards the end that I hadn't seen coming. It's actually quite scary as this could actually happen! One for fans of Tom Clancy - I hope Mr Turney writes more like this.

This is a fantastic crime thriller with a unique premise - just like the cover and blurb say.
After remembering that the first chapters are setting the unique premise up you are free to enjoy the detail about settling into a hard life in Sheffield as an ex-con. Can't say too much without letting details out and you really need to read it and think and see if it turns out how you think. Oh - it won't. There are lots of twists and turns, lots of changing who you empathise with. I think I felt most sorry for Harlan's (ex)wife Eve who he constantly ignores and runs from.
The book has many different themes, love, redemption, families, happiness, gambling, paedophilia, murder,… Read more
The Society Of Dirty Hearts (A crime thriller nove&hellip by Ben Cheetham

Found this after being really pleased with Blood Guilt by Ben Cheetham. Am I sorry I did? Yes partly because it was nowhere near as well constructed, as interesting or as satisfying at the end. It's far too odd a premise to start with, the characters are really odd without much explanation as to why and I can't see why the first part about Julian's gran having ESP is even in the book as it never reappears. I felt let down with this book after enjoying Blood Guilt so much.
