The Republic of Thieves (The Gentlemen Bastard Seq&hellip by Scott Lynch
I really enjoyed the main plot, a great return for Scott Lynch after far too long an absence, but found the flashback story slow paced and largely unnecessary. I wanted them to be over so I could get back to the much better paced and exciting "present day" story line.

Eagerly waiting for the Thorn of Emberlain.........
Broken Homes (PC Peter Grant Book 4) by Ben Aaronovitch

One of the things I liked about these books was the main characters level headed normalness in the face of magic. They responded as people but in this book Peter Grant starts to act like a superhero and supersleuth, which is out of character with his normal police attitude.

Still a very enjoyable read though.
The Eighth Court (The Courts of the Feyre Book 4) by Mike Shevdon

Predictable, felt rushed yet still managed to be boring in parts and have a very disappointing end. I read it to complete the series but if this was the first book I would never have read the subsequent ones. I felt it relied too much on set pieces and shock value to provide entertainment rather than telling a story through story lines, creating new environments or character development. Many of the characters responses to events in the book don't feel real or accurate and this made the whole story feel emotionally detached from the events being described.
