It's because it shows that a developer are willing to make the most out of the hardware while people are still playing it. EA pulls it off with FIFA 14.

It has the same amount of features found in the Playstation 3 version but on the PS2 form, but I could be wrong. The popular training mission found in the first game are heavyly expanded upon and offer a more wider challenge with a bit more depth. I'm a big fan of the Need for Speed series and always wanted to play this game. With backwards game compatibility on the Playstation 3, it's finally my chance and I wasn't disappointed! The PC version of the game was problematic because the PC version needed special hardware that doesn't exist today and was impossible to play despite many possible solutions or you were simply unlucky not to have the correct hardware for it, which is why I got the PS1 version which can be played on Playstation 3 hardware.
