My Dad bought me this book for Christmas as I asked him to find me a gluten-free baking book with some typical English recipes. I have lived in Germany for over twenty years, but have only recently discovered that I can't eat gluten. The cookbooks I have got so far are either American or German, so I had no decent recipes for scones or other typical British baked goods. This book is almost what I was looking for, but not quite, hence only four stars. It does have a recipe for scones - but savoury ones!!!

These are the things I like: the photographs; the gluten-free flour mixes which he has put together, rather than what you often get in GF cookbooks, which is a particular product… Read more

I bought this book a few months ago and have been following the advice in it, as well as similar tips I read about in Dr Schwarzbein's book, "The Schwarzbein Principle II: The Transition", and my energy levels and general sense of well-being and happiness have all definitely improved!!!
I am writing this review primarily to respond to the criticism voiced in one of the reviews about it being nonsense that there is such a thing as "energy-robbing people". There are!!! Having read and greatly enjoyed "Natural Health and Weight Loss" in May 2007, I had to buy this book. Mr Groves has a very entertaining and readable writing style and, whether you agree with everything he says or not, he says it so well that his books are always a pleasure to read. (Which is certainly not true of all books on health and nutrition...).
As I can personally testify that the Barry Groves' weight-loss plan works, having successfully lost 5 kilos (twice!!!) using his tips, and can personally testify that eating this way has given me more energy and has enabled me (with a couple of blips at Christmas - I blame German "Stollen" and German beer!!!) to either lose weight, or… Read more
