Bosch SMS40C02GB Freestanding Dishwasher by Bosch
Good points: Extremely quiet. Washes and dries well on eco and normal programmes. Consumes less salt than our previous model. Versatile racks. Easy access to cutlery basket.
Not so good: Eco and normal programmes are long (3:15 and 2:10), whilst quick is just 0:29.Quick wash leaves crockery wet, so a little more drying time would be good. Bottom rack derails easily. Rinse aid needs refilling more often than expected.
35w Warm whwite Energy Saving Spiral Light Bulb, 1&hellip by Long Life Lamp Company
4.0 out of 5 stars So far so bright, 14 May 2013
The bulbs arrived very promptly, well packaged and intact. Energy-saving bulbs had seemed a step back into the dark ages, with their inadequate light, slow warm-up and occasional flicker. However, these are decently bright and quite quick to light up. Be aware they are slightly bigger than some enclosed fittings will take, as I found to my cost, when replacing a bathroom lamp's glass cover (they break easily).
4 stars for now, because they need to last a year or more to be worth it.
Under The Skin by Michel Faber
Under The Skin by Michel Faber
5.0 out of 5 stars Thought-provoking, 23 April 2013
I read in bed, before sleep. It is extremely rare for anything I've read to register the following morning; Under The Skin is an exception.
Faber doesn't spoon-feed the reader. The clues are there for you to build the odd, unsettling picture of a remote corner of Scotland, a kind of hitch-hiker's Bermuda Triangle, where cosy assumptions about man's place on the planet are shaken.
No wonder you see so few hitchers on the roads these days - they must have read this book.
Thought-provoking and very rewarding.
