As with Silesian Station all the main characters are present. Just as interesting a read, as the lives of the protagonists become increasingly strangled by the Nazi machine. Russell continues his attempts to stay in Berlin with his son and his lover as war looms.
John Russell is a sympathetic character whose continuing life and fate I am interested in following. The Berlin which he inhabits in the late 1930's is full of detail. The interplay amongst the prevailing official powers in the city as Nazism tightens its grip is a real page turner.
