The Wisdom of Shepherds is simply the best book of the wisdom-literature genre. It is a story, but as a story it speaks volumes. The story is about a wise but slightly eccentric old shepherd who returns to a crumbling cottage each year for shelter during the cold months. One year he returns and finds the cottage occupied by a stranger-- a woman with red hair. His simple way of life is disturbed, and he must learn to cope in some way. Through the tough but tender wisdom of those who tend sheep, everything works out-- plus there is a great surprise at the end of the story. The Wisdom of Shepherds truly is an outstanding book, and I recommend it to all.
