I wanted to give this 5* before I read it, as Andy Kershaw has shaped what passes for my musical taste in the latter part of my adult life. I owe him a lot, give or take some yodelling.
At first I wasn't sure I was going to. He can be irritating, infuriating, opinionated and more ... it took me a while to realise that is precisely what makes the book quite so good. What you see is what you get, no off switch and little if any filter. Before long I got swept up in the story and its humanity. The writing is consistently droll, funny, moving and with a sharp eye for detail. The chapter on North Korea is worth the money and 5* alone.
