Visual Contrast - The Art of Display and Arrangeme&hellip by Tim Rundle
5.0 out of 5 stars Colour me quirky, 16 July 2013
What a delightful book! I love the cultural eclecticism, the honesty of the no rule rule book with lots of tips nevertheless, the witty juxtapositions, the sheer cheek of some combinations. Text and photography sit very well together and the fold-out format works. A book which makes this reader look again and retain the mantra of 'Don't replace, re-arrange!'

5.0 out of 5 stars Scottish treats, 3 Nov 2008
Rarely having been disappointed by the match between blurb and reality from other Sawday guides, I come to the newest with high expectations. I have drooled over the treats from lochside Highlands luxury with 'sublime' cooking to 'peaceful manse' or 'writer's retreat'. Tempting photographs of the glorious views and varied properties from the Borders to the Orkneys will indeed lure travellers old and new. I like the small slip-it-in-your-pocket format and accept the sacrifice of larger maps. Eight line entries manage to give so much information in straightforward clarity. I enjoyed the sterling spoof and can hardly wait to sample my own choice, meantime more browsing with intent!

It kicks off with a full introduction covering the range of problems which may need special provision, the current debate over where provision should be offered and the Law relating to Special Needs but gives great emphasis to parents' stories too. There's further help at the end via a Glossary of terms, and Index and Abbreviations to make experts of us all! It's full of down to earth comment about what was seen, heard and witnessed and includes quotes from the users- the children. Maps will show you a good spread across… Read more
