Ballistol oil is an institution in Germany but little known in the UK. It doesn't smell of oil-it has a faint aniseed scent- so you can use it in situations where you wouldn't want a petroleum smell to linger, on interior door hinges for example, or on tools which you might keep in your pocket like secateurs or Swiss army knives. It's great for treating leather and even reputedly insect bites! It's a bit dearer than WD40 but worth the premium price as it is such a versatile and effective product.
I love Hunter Lowther Wellies. So comfortable. So light. Half the price of the full blown Hunter with that ostentatious label. They'd be perfect except that the boots tend to split at the front where the heavier lower part joins the lighter rubber above it after just a few weeks. It's happened to me twice. I'll still go on buying them anyway, but it would be great if Hunter got on the case.
