Pachelbel & Fasch : Orchestral Works - Apex ~ Pierre Pierlot, Jean-Francois Paillard & Orchestre De Chambre Jean-Francois Paillard Maurice Andre
A splendid recording with Maurice Andre as soloist in the Fasch Concerto in D major for trumpet and strings the highlight.Bach held Fasch in high regard and it's easy to understand why from this recording. The four-movement Symphony for strings in G major is equally delightful, with a vigorous Vivace and Presto offering an opportunity for the violins to charm. An uplifting CD.
Ofra Harnoy - The Cellist ~ Ofra Harnoy
This will appeal to her many followers. Two of her renowned Vivaldi recordings:The Concerto in B minor RV424,The Concerto for violin and cello in F RV 544.Add to these the Finale of Dvorak's Concerto in B minor,The Allegro molto of Haydn's concerto in C,the allegro moderato of Boccherini's Concerto in B flat, the entire Tchaikovsky Variations on a Rococo Theme-superb-the Intermezzo from Lalo's concerto in D minor,Dvorak's Silent Woods and a host more, you have a very eclectic but representative selection of her repertoire.A must.

Pen Portraits of 100 Somerset cricketers, some contentious choices, some predictable but all in all a thoroughly enjoyable read.A book to be delved into rather than read at one go.
