SmartReads The Thirty-Nine Steps Adapted from the &hellip by Giglets

I didn't believe it possible but Giglets have succeeded in keeping the excitement and drama of John Buchan's original masterpiece while précising it down to the advertised 15 minute read. I think that this is the way forward for a whole lot of classics. The Giglets versions, while complete and entertaining in themselves, also serve as a taster which will encourage many readers of all ages to seek out the original. What a great idea!
Core Products CR513 3+3 Drawer Chest by Core Products
3.0 out of 5 stars Flatpack Heaven?, 21 Jun 2011
While the finished product is reasonably OK, the form in which it is supplied leaves a lot to be desired. The assembly instructions would, I am sure, be helpful to someone who has already assembled two or three of the chests of drawers already. For the first time around:- a nightmare.
While parts are identifed on the drawing, it would be hugely helpful if the parts themselves carried matching I/D.
Also, if you follow the instructions to use wood glue on the dowels, there should be an instruction to let each sub-section dry overnight, otherwise you get distortions and gaps in the finished product.
A basically excellent product let down by crummy assembly instructions

The overall standard of writing is very high, the days described range from the laugh-out-loud funny to the warm, the wistful and the sad. The age of the writers varies from late teens to sixty plus. Taken together they present a very recognisable picture of Scotland in the second half of the twentieth century
