Every year organisations throw trillions of dollars at projects - the majority of them IT based - only to have somewhere between 40 and 70 per cent of them fail due to human factors. A Google search for Human Resources in project management turns up over two million hits, but in the first hundred, less than a handful actually relate to the impact of human behaviour on projects. Sarah Lewis brings a depth of knowledge to her new work. A qualified psychologist and experienced consultant, she presents complex information fluently and succinctly and succeeds in her intention of persuading the reader that positive psychology can lead to a new era or organisational understanding and practice.

OD practitioners will be particularly interested in the chapter describing how positive psychology can support authentic leadership and successful change. And HR specialists will find plenty to learn from chapters 3, 4 & 7 which collectively focus on positive communications, decision making and enhancing relationships at work.
