I ordered this during my final year at Cambridge studying History. It proved to be a comprehensive and detailed textbook which was easy to read and well presented. At the time it was one of many, but I was grateful for the insights it provided.
Let's Go 2006 Italy (Let's Go: Italy) by Let's Go Inc

I have been in Italy for the last 5 weeks on a seriously tight student budget with a 'Lets Go' and a 'Lonely Planet'. 'Lets Go' wins hands down, it actually gives REAL budget hostels and hotels rather then 'budget' places of 80 or whatever, it tells you the best places to go, eat, see and sleep and so far has not failed me once!! It suggests little out of the way cafes and restaurants where the locals go to avoid tourist photo menus, and information about everything you could want, internet, supermarkets etc etc etc. This is the only guidebook you need for any exploration of Italy. Fantastic.

3.0 out of 5 stars An average textbook, 11 May 2006
For an A Level syllabus on Mussolini's italy, this textbook does the job - however it is always on the simple side, and the plethora of pictures and cartoons seem a little patronising. Does not go into sufficient detail on some aspects - is great for getting the information to achieve a good grade, but not so great if you really want to get involved in the subject.
