My Year Off (Abridged) by Robert McCrum
My Year Off (Abridged) by Robert McCrum
But how much money you can throw at it can obviously help! I am aware that the NHS does a fantastic job but after Robert's initial diagnosis in an NHS hospital it was private all the way there after! He mentions a Barrister who had to use all his savings to get the care and facilities he needed to make a near complete recovery. Robert may not have made such a brilliant recovery had it not been for the ability to pay for it to happen. Sad but true unfortunately it was slightly marred for me as this was the thread running through the narrative. LUTHER: The Calling by Neil Cross
LUTHER: The Calling by Neil Cross
I've never seen 'Luther' on the TV and didn't know that Neil Cross had written the TV Series. I picked up this book just because it was a Cross novel, I have always found him to be an engaging author and have read nearly all his previous novels. I definitely wasn't disppointed with his latest offering: Luther: The Calling.

I won't go into much plot detail but to say that the novel is a bit disturbing in parts and quite graphic in the telling. Don't be put off though! Give yourself enough spare time to read this brilliant thriller that is not a 'stroll of a novel' but very consuming, fast paced and a great story.

More please Mr Cross and the sooner the better!
Torchwood: Bay Of The Dead by Mark Morris
But I loved it!! I little gory in parts and it got my pulse racing at times - all the components of a thumping good read.

The author got Rhys spot on for me with his humour and humility combined. Some of the tale was actually quite funny which offset the horror of the zombies well enough not to give me bad dreams! I sound like a child don't I? but I am used to hard-boiled crime alright, just wasn't so used to finding it in a Torchwood novel!

Recommended read IMO, but keep the lights on!
