5.0 out of 5 stars East End Paradise, 12 April 2011
Am I the only person to have pre ordered this thinking that it was a sequel to the wonderful "Fresh Picked" only to discover when it arrived that it IS "Fresh Picked" but under a different title? I am very disappointed because I was looking forward to a new book and instead have 2 books with identical contents but under different covers and titles. It's still brilliant though so if you don't have "Fresh Picked" already you are in for a treat.

In this comprehensive and immensely readable update to Pevsner, Bill Wilson displays not only his unrivaled knowledge of Norfolk's historic buildings but also a superb and eloquent way with words that leaves the reader itching to visit the multitude of places described within. Worth every penny.

In this companion to his masterly up-date on Norwich and North-East Norfolk, Bill Wilson does not disappoint. Like its sister volume, the sheer comprehensiveness, accuracy and depth of the work leave one almost breathless. This aside, the eloquent and consise writing, interwoven with the occasional and beautifully crafted rye comment are what makes the book so readable, The introduction alone makes it an essential purchase for those with a love of the county, its buildings and just damn good writing. It will remain both my bedside read and my essential guide to Norfolk for many years to come.
