This is the series that the boys really came good. The second sries showed progress, this is the one where the perfect formula was found. More stand up routines rather than the sketches format which was hit and miss in the first two series at times. Roll on series four and five which consolidates this series.

This was the first series which Sid Green wrote for the boys (Morecambe and Wise co-writer before Eddie Braben) and is an overall improvement on the 1st series released last year. Some of the shows in the series are better than others but overall the quality of material benefits from a high class writer writing all the material. Its a variety show format with musical guests/star guests/sketches and stand up. This was similar of other shows of that time, Morecambe and Wise/Little and Large etc.

This in my opinion is the best blues rock album released for a long time, those that said that another Stevie Ray Vaughan influential modern blues player could not emerge should think again, although to be fair his style is different. His success as a solo artist is due to the fact he understands that blues rock is a genre in its own right not like a pub rock band which mixed blues into its setlists. Add splashes of country and acoustics and you get a perfect mix. There are no poor tracks here with lots of variation which holds the interest thoughout and this is his best solo album and a genuine artistic statement by Joe, this is the benchmark all other pretenders have to match now.
