I picked this book on a whim and what I liked about it was that it lived up to its title: it really did tell me the stuff I didnıt know about Israel, things that never make it to the prime time news. Susan Nathanıs account of her life inside Israel, living as a Jew among the countryıs large Arab population, is truly shocking. Itıs difficult not to call what she sees apartheid, even if most of us are made uncomfortable by such comparisons. If this was going on anywhere else but Israel, I canıt help feeling we would have heard about it long ago.
