5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 3 Jan 2012
N.B. this is the Series 2. some places are still selling the Series 1 and features are different enough to recommend getting the S2.

This is a really nice piece of kit. I bought this for my wife with the extra battery pack so she can wander the house.

The sound quality is excellent considering its single speaker, volume is not massive but more than adequate.

I really like the slightly soft matt black coating its a lovely feel and also makes it feel secure when carrying it around. Although the radio is slightly indented at the rear to give a sense of grip I would have prefered something a little more 'grippier'. Thats not to say I think you will drop it its… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a Detective Novel, 5 Oct 2011
The story is set on the remote Outer Hebridean Island of Lewis. Fin (the detective and ex islander) is brought over to look at similarities between, a murder on Lewis and one he was investigating in Edinburgh.

The threads tie together as the book unfolds opening little cracks and hinting at motives and possible… Read more

I enjoyed this book. The plot was interesting and unusual and quite gruesome. I did not guess what was going on for some time, although the false reveal towards the end I did know was wrong.

The story is told in the first person, in the situation they are in at a point of time, with each chapter told from the viewpoints of a different character in the plot. Although the its told almost 'real time' there are annoying elements of hindsight which the person would not have. i.e. "I have been kidnapped and I am tied to a bed, I don't know I will die a gruesome death...blah blah"

I'm in mixed minds about this and its the reason I didn't give it 5 stars.

I look… Read more
