Doomsday Book (S.F. Masterworks) by Connie Willis
5.0 out of 5 stars Poignant, 20 Jun 2014
Very much a book for people who like science fiction and the fourteenth century. Although the blurb gives away the twist, it's still very moving when it becomes clear what's going on. It's very well written and there are a few tears along the way.

I didn't think there could be many people who could write equally well about the fourteenth century and the twenty-first and make the reader care about both, but Connie Willis manages it.
The Jane Austen Pocket Bible (Pocket Bibles) by Holly Ivins
3.0 out of 5 stars Not much new, 20 Jun 2014
If you've read the books, you don't really need this book. It's little more than a rehash of the plots with no real insight into the characters and little additional information. There's a little information about film and TV adaptation. It's cheap enough, though, that, if you need a quick plot summary, it might be handy.
Acctim 12343 Auric Alarm Clock, Black by Acctim

The light is useful and it's easy enough to use. My only complaint is that you have to really turn the alarm off to stop it going to snooze and then you have to remember to turn it back on again when you go to bed.
